Want to add a little creative font magic for custom bookmarks? There are plenty of font effects you can use for bookmark printing. With a design tool such as Adobe Photoshop or Quark Xpress, it can be as easy as just clicking on a few effects. Below are a few of my favorite font magic effects for my own custom bookmarks. You might want to use them for your own. Here are the details:
• Glowing fonts – Glowing font effects are great for emphasizing certain words or phrases in a custom bookmark. There is nothing like rays of light shooting around the text outline to really get people's eyes to look. I like to use this on single and powerful words such as “Free” or “Amazing”. So for marketing bookmarks and other custom bookmark jobs that need to capture people's attention quickly you might want to use this effect.
• Shadowed fonts – Now if you want just a subtle effect for your custom bookmark text, some shadowed text should be okay. Most design software can let you add shadow effects. This basically adds a nice dark area behind your text simulating a light source in front. It gives a “lifted up” effect adding a little bit more character and definition to your fonts. This is good to use for any kind of custom bookmarks, from personal to commercial ones.
• Fonts with different colors – You can also play with the colors of your fonts. I do not mean here that you should just change them. It is possible to actually play with the colors of the fonts through color gradients. A color gradient is basically a scheme where one color can seamlessly blend to another color, or even more colors. This can be used as a font filler and has a great effect. For example, you can have the color red near the bottom of your letters while it steadily changes to orange as it goes up the characters. This is a nice effect that you should try out especially if you are using Photoshop.
• Fonts with textures – Besides color gradients, you can also use textures as font fillers. This is especially useful if you are using a theme in your custom bookmarks. You can actually add textures like wood, sating, canvass, clouds, bubbles and many others for your fonts. This adds a realistic effect in your fonts, making them look like they were made from something. Use this effect sparingly though since this might get too loud.
• Fonts with images within – Finally, if you are using big and fat fonts, you can actually add images within the font. It is quite a cool effect wherein you see an image within just one big letter, or one whole word with characters that are closed together. This can easily be done as a filler as well, and in most imaging software you can easily do this. This is perfect if you want a more modern type of design with lots of details and images.
So why not try these effects out? I assure you that I get quite the nice impression by using them in both personal and professional custom bookmark printing. Get creative and good luck!
